Configuring HighPerf Reporting Engine Part-1

In continuation to our introduction blog on HighPerf reporting engine, this one explains about how to install the HighPerf reporting engine and integrate it with NetFlow Analyzer.

This HighPerf reporting engine comes as a add-on package to NetFlow Analyzer. It can be installed on the same machine where NetFlow Analyzer is installed or on a remote server.

HighPerf Reporting Engine and NetFlow Anlayzer on the same server:

If you prefer to install the HighPerf Add On on the same server where you are going deploy NetFlow Analyzer, You can download the installable for Windows which has HighPerf add-on from here and Linux from here.

Integrating HighPerf Reporting Engine With NetFlow Analyzer:

Once the installation is completed and NetFlow Analyzer is started on Windows or Linux. Connect the user interface and click Admin–>HighPerf Reporting Engine.

Since the HighPerf Reporting Engine is installed on the same machine, select the option localhost and specify the server Administrative user name and password for windows and root user credentials for Linux and save it.

Once the connection is established you can see the HighPerf Reporting Engine is online and raw data can now set to 6 months under Admin—> Raw Data Settings.

Deploying the HighPerf Reproting Engine remote server:

Once you install the NetFlow Analyzer 9.8 Build 9800 and planning to deploy HighPerf Reporting Engine on the dedicated server, this involves 2 steps:

  1. Installing HighPerf Reporting Engine Client on the NetFlow Analyzer server.
  1. Installing HighPerf Reporting Engine Database server on the dedicated machine.

Installing Client on the NetFlow Analyzer server:

Windows:-

Download the HighPerf Add On for Windows from here. Double click on the Installable file and run it. Make sure that NetFlow Analyzer service is stopped before installing the client.

Read the ‘License’ terms and conditions and choose ‘I accept the terms of the agreement’ and click ‘Next’ to continue with the installation.

The next screen ask whether you are going to install Full installation or Client or Database Server. Install the HighPerf Add On client on the NetFlow Analyzer, this is done in order to establish connection with remote HighPerf database server.

Installing the Database Server on Remote server:

Download the HighPerf Add On for Windows from here. Double click on the Installable file and run it.

Read the ‘License’ terms and conditions and choose ‘I accept the terms of the agreement’ and click ‘Next’ to continue with the installation.

The next screen ask whether you are going to install Full installation or Client or Database. Select the Database Server option and proceed with the installation.

After successful installation start the service named (Vectorwise and Vectorwise Remote Manager) on the remote server.

Integrating Remote HighPerf Database server with NetFlow Analyzer:

Connect the user interface and click Admin–>HighPerf Reporting Engine. Select the option as Remote server and specify the remote database server IP and that server user name and password to establish connection.

Once the connection is saved, the raw data is store in remote server. We will go through linux installation in our next blog.
