FortiGate Cookbook – WiFi and Wired Clients on the Same Subnet

You want to put your WiFi users on the same network segment (or subnet) as your wired LAN users, but the FortiGate unit requires each network interface to have a single unique network segment. The solution is to create a software switch interface with the internal LAN interface and WiFi network virtual interfaces as members.

Leap Day

Leap Day occurs almost every four years on February 29th, and this year it’s finally a Leap Year! Leap years are years with 366 days as opposed to the usual 365, but why are Leap Days necessary? Leap Day are necessary because the actual length of a year is 365.242 days, not the standard 365, so by adding this day every four years, we are closer to keeping the calendar aligned with the earth’s annual trip around the sun, which takes about 365 and ¼ days.

Today we have made available Version 8.301 of Astaro Security Gateway. This is a maintenance release only which addresses various reported issues and will contribute to the stability of your ASG installation. While this Up2Date will be made automatically available for installation, you can read on for more details and manual download links.

Flexible NetFlow configuration in Cisco 4500 with Supervisor Engine 7-E and Cisco IOS XE

Catalyst 4500 series switches with Supervisor Engine 7-E and Cisco IOS XE Software Release 3.1.0 SG supports Flexible NetFlow. Hence we thought of sharing the configuration information with you.

The configuration of Flexible NetFlow in these switches is similar to the other regular Flexible NetFlow. Same 4 steps:
1)    Creating Exporter
2)    Creating Record
3)    Creating Monitor
4)    Associate the monitor to the interface.

However, supervisor 7-E does not support predefined records like traditional routers (record neflow ipv4 original-input). Hence it is compulsory that we should create a record.
